Family Background

Chantre is a 10-year-old girl from Plong Village, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. She lives with her grandparents and three siblings because her parents migrated for work, but their income is very small and unstable. Her family’s poverty makes it hard to cover daily needs and school expenses such as uniforms, books, and transportation. Even with these struggles, Chantre is determined to continue her education until she finishes Grade 12. She is a bright and motivated student who excels in the Khmer language and dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Her greatest hope is to help others through her profession and to lift her family out of poverty. Although her family is not Christian, Chantre believes in God, attends church faithfully, and finds strength through the children’s ministry each Sunday.
