Family Background

Sophanna is a 10-year-old boy from Traphang Sa Village, Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. He lives with his parents and is their only child, currently studying in Grade 4 where he excels in Math and English. His dream is to one day become a bank staff and build a better future for himself and his family. His parents are subsistence farmers, earning only about 32,000 Riel ($8) per day, which is barely enough to cover daily needs and school expenses. Although they struggle financially, his parents strongly desire for him to continue school and complete his education. Sophanna is determined to finish Grade 12 and pursue higher education so he can find a good job to support his family. His father is a devoted Christian, and while Sophanna has not yet made a personal commitment to faith, he often attends church with his father and is slowly opening his heart to God’s love.
